ORRVILLE – A Thursday evening shooting in a residential area near the city’s power plant has left one person dead and another critically wounded, according to the Orrville Police Department. Authorities are actively investigating the incident but have assured the public there is no ongoing threat to community safety.
Incident Details and Response
Police were dispatched to the area of Mineral Springs near North Vine Street just after 7:00 p.m. on January 22nd following reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, officers located two victims with gunshot wounds.
One victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The second victim was stabilized by EMS crews and first responders before being transported to a local hospital. Their condition is reported as critical.
The emergency response was significant, involving multiple EMS teams and a request for assistance from Metro LifeFlight. Activity related to the incident also extended to nearby Perry Street, close to the Orrville Municipal Power Plant, where first responders worked on the wounded victim before transportation.

As part of the investigation, police temporarily closed Mineral Springs east of Sterling Avenue. The Orrville Police Department has stated the shooting appears to be an isolated incident and that there is no active danger to the general public.
“At this time, we believe there is no continuous risk to public safety,” read an official statement from the department. “The investigation is ongoing, and we are following all leads.”
Authorities have not yet released the identities of the victims or any information regarding potential suspects or a motive.
