
AROUCA, Trinidad and Tobago — A seven-month-pregnant Venezuelan woman was shot and killed in an attack in Arouca on Wednesday afternoon, January 21, 2026. Police believe she was an unintended victim in a shooting targeting her boyfriend.
The victim has been identified as Annalisa Lopez. The attack occurred shortly after 1:00 p.m. at a shed on Garden Road, where Lopez was with her boyfriend and several other individuals.
According to police reports, a gunman approached the group and opened fire, causing everyone to flee. Lopez was struck by gunfire during the chaos. She was transported to the Arima Hospital by police officers but was later pronounced dead.
Senior investigators from the North Central Division and the Region 2 Homicide Bureau of Investigations, led by ASP Sunil Bharath, are handling the case. Preliminary information suggests Lopez’s boyfriend was the intended target of the shooter.
This tragic killing marks the third homicide recorded in Trinidad and Tobago on Wednesday. The investigation is ongoing as police search for the gunman and a clear motive.
