The Bedford community and Indiana Steel family are mourning the loss of Noel David Brumage, a skilled welder, devoted husband, and lifelong outdoorsman, who passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at IU Health Methodist Hospital. He was 52 years old.
Born on July 3, 1973, in Zanesville, Ohio, Noel was the son of Noel Jeffery “Jeff” and Rebecca “Becky” Ann (Fithyan) Brumage. Baptized in the Catholic Church, his early life instilled in him a strong sense of faith, discipline, and family values that guided him throughout his personal and professional journey.
A certified welder in the State of Indiana, Brumage dedicated his career to precision trade work. Most recently employed at Indiana Steel in Bedford, he earned the respect of colleagues for his craftsmanship, reliability, and willingness to assist others. Coworkers remember him not just for his technical skill, but for the care and integrity he brought to every task.
Outside the workplace, Noel was deeply connected to the outdoors. A fourth-generation Boy Scout and Eagle Scout (1991) with Troop 348, he embraced leadership, service, and dedication throughout his life. He loved fishing along the river, mushroom hunting, caving, and hiking—activities that allowed him to unwind, teach others, and create lasting memories with friends and family.
Noel married Leann Kay Luchauer on October 14, 1994, and their more than three-decade-long marriage was marked by mutual support, shared adventures, and unwavering devotion. Family members describe him as a loving and loyal husband whose steady presence formed the foundation of their home.
Tributes have poured in from friends, relatives, coworkers, and the scouting community, highlighting Noel’s integrity, dedication, and the positive impact he had on all who knew him. His life was defined by purpose, service, and a deep appreciation for both his craft and the natural world.
Noel David Brumage leaves behind a legacy of skill, character, and love for family and community. He will be remembered fondly by all whose lives he touched, and his memory will endure through his work, his family, and his passion for the outdoors.
