Gwinnett County Shooting; Children Hiding in Closet Call 911 After Four Killed in Domestic Shooting

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. — A domestic dispute in a quiet Gwinnett County home erupted in gunfire early Friday morning, leaving four adults dead. Three children hiding inside a closet during the attack made the call that brought police to the scene.

Officers were called to a home in the 1000 block of Brook Ivy Court in unincorporated Lawrenceville just after 2:30 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 23, 2026.

Upon arrival, police discovered the bodies of four adult victims. Police did not release their identities or confirm their relationships, but stated the shooting stemmed from a domestic altercation.

Authorities said three children were found unharmed inside the home, hiding in a closet. One of the children called 911, alerting authorities to the shooting.

A K-9 unit from the Gwinnett County Police Department tracked the suspected shooter to a wooded area behind the home, where they were taken into custody. The suspect’s identity has not been released.

“Tonight, four people have tragically lost their lives, and three children are left without family due to an act of domestic violence,” a Gwinnett police spokesperson said at the scene. “We are working to provide support to these children and to understand exactly what happened here.”

Police confirmed there is no further threat to the community. The investigation remains active as detectives work to notify next of kin and determine the exact circumstances that led to the deadly fight.

The children were released into the custody of a family member. No other injuries were reported.

This is a developing story.
